The Noisy Coach

February 2004
I’m in the carriage on the train that is called the ‘Quiet Coach’, which means you are not supposed to use mobile phones. You can rustle crisp packets and crunch their contents with your mouth open so forming a kind of megaphone of scrunching sounds at great volume, but mobile phones would annoy other passengers you see. It’s the, crunch, crinkle, scrunch, crunch: Quiet Coach. I’m feeling a bit sick.
